"Skylark II"
"Skylark II" is a Shearwater 39, built by Jacobs Brothers in Cape Town. Originally fitted out by her first owner, she has since been fully refitted to a high standard. Boats to this design enjoy an awesome reputation for being powerful and very seaworthy cruisers that give fast passages. She was the first Shearwater to start construction. With a very tall owner, nicknamed "Lofty", she has 50mm more headroom than the other boats to this design. She cruised the Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific to New Zealand, where she she got new owners. They cruised the Pacific and Indian Oceans, including a terrifying passage through the pirate waters at the height of the piracy of yachts and ships. Their cruising is recorded in the book "A Harrowing Journey : Sailing into Danger" . "Skylark II" is currently in Turkey under British ownership but can be moved further west if needed by a buyer. The photos below are from when we listed her for a previous owner. The seller can send current photos to anyone with serious interest. Her aluminium construction makes "Skylark II" a very strong yacht. She is capable of taking you anywhere that you want to go on the oceans of the world, able to withstand coral, rocks and ice far better than most cruisers. She is extremely good value at £49,000 (Approx. US$64,000). For more information on her design, visit the Shearwater 39 page. If she interests you, please contact Dudley Dix |
