HOWDY BAILEY YACHT SERVICES

Howdy Bailey's yard is located near to Cobb's Marina on Little Creek in Norfolk VA, just up the South side of Chesapeake Bay from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.

This is a small yard capable of big things. They have dedicated and very capable staff, led by perfectionist Howdy Bailey. He has been described to me on many occasions by clients and others as a real artist in metal. Although their preference is for aluminum, their origins are in steel boats.

These photographs show some of the beautiful work which Howdy and his team have done in building boats of our design. A few years ago Howdy decided that the time had come to slow down, so he is no longer taking on large new boat construction. He is still available for maintenance and jobbing work on large boats.

Howdy will also accept commissions to build our plywood high performance dinghy, the Paper Jet 14, for anyone who does not want to build it for themselves. Contact Howdy for price and options.

The Little Creek 47 design was named for the creek where Global Yachts are based. "Flutterby" was built by them for Tom & Nancy Donan, who won The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race with her against far bigger opposition. These photos show the beautiful work done by Global Yachts, both in hull construction and fitting out.
