FAQ - Ordering and Payment

How do I place an order?

Shipping methods, costs and reliability of delivery services

Our prices do not include packing and shipping. Please see our Shipping Options page for the charges for packing and shipping.


What are your terms of sale?

1. Design rights are retained by Dudley Dix. You buy the right to use the information on the drawings.

2. Plans are sold for the construction of one boat only, unless otherwise authorised in writing by Dudley Dix.

3. A royalty equal to the plans purchase price is payable on each additional boat before construction of such additional boat starts. On receipt of each royalty payment Dudley Dix shall supply a full set of plans for the boat.

4. Plans shall not be sold to a third party unless so authorised in writing by Dudley Dix.

5. Liability of Dudley Dix Yacht Design is limited to the price paid for the plans.

6. Payments from outside USA are to be in US$.

7. Due to the nature of the information that we supply, purchases are non-refundable.

8. Prices do not include for liaison with certification or other authorities, nor preparation of any documentation required by authorities in the country where the boat is built. If this service is required, email us to discuss requirements and costs.

What do I receive for my money?

General Notes:-
- All plans include for email backup throughout construction without charge.
- Plan sales are strictly for building one boat per set supplied. Additonal plans must be bought to cover additional boats.
- CAD designs are supplied as paper prints, not CAD files. The CAD designs are newer, drawn in AutoCAD and are more accurate and more clearly detailed than the hand-drawn designs.
- All plans, both CAD and hand-drawn designs, are printed on inkjet architectural plotters. They do not fade off the paper unless severely abused.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Full Size Patterns. Plotted on Mylar in 914mm (36") wide strips to be taped together. See in the description column of the pricelist what patterns we offer for each design from the following types:-
Section patterns - hull or hull/deck shape at each station or frame to be built.
Bulkhead patterns - shape of each bulkhead to be cut and over which the hull will be built. Include cut-outs, stringer slots etc.
Frame patterns - shape of each frame to be cut and over which the hull will be built. Include cut-outs, stringer slots etc.
Metric or Imperial Units
All designs are in metric units and some have imperial units as well. If the purchase of a design from us is dependent on it having imperial measurements on the drawings, we will add those free of charge.
