Silver Star 32 excursion boat
Silver Star 32

The Silver Star range of boats was commissioned for use on protected waters such as dams, lakes and rivers. Primarily for game watching excursions and similar work, they had to be ecologically friendly in use in terms of all kinds of polution and wake disturbance along the banks. At the same time they had to meet low bridge clearance restrictions and the stability needs of a relatively heavy live load.

The excursion version of the 26 carries 26 people and the 32 carries 35, each of which are permitted to have a maximum of six people on the upper sundeck. On the main deck the accommodation comprises a small galley, enclosed toilet and the helm position under the roof. Fore and aft she has moulded seating and the rest is left as open deck for versatility in use. A portable barbecue on the rail and swim platform aft make her ideal for family or corporate excursions and removable fabric panels to fully enclose the roofed area turn her into a camp cruiser.

The 26ft houseboat version was drawn to give a small family floating holiday accommodation on the same hull. The cockpit is large enough for comfortable sleeping under the stars and to barbecue in comfort. There is a standup helm position against the aft end of the superstructure.

The interior is laid out to sleep two couples in convertible double berths and two children in upper and lower berths. The upper berth folds down to form a backrest to the lower settee/berth. Forward is an internal helm position with the settee acting as the helm seat. To port are the enclosed toilet and galley. The extra 6ft available in the 32ft version permits either another two berths to be fitted in or more space to be made available with the same number of berths.

The company which built these boats did not get as far as developing the houseboat moulds.
