It is a big benefit to have some heavy equipment available to provide muscle. Here a forklift is being used to lift the foredeck plates up onto the hull.

This view shows how the deck was pulled down against the beams so that it would lie as a fair surface. The tie-down straps apply the pressure to pull the plate against the beams, the timber battens spread the pressure along the plate edges.
