Mooring fairleads are formed through the bulwark attachment plates. Here the fairlead opening is being rounded to minimise rope chafe.

Hatch frames being welded up from angle and/or flat bar.

Hatch frame ready for welding to deck. The deck opening will be enlarged to fit the frame. The hatch will be bolted down on the frame.

Flanges for seacocks. The one flange is welded to the hull skin. The seacock, screwed to a threaded tube, is bolted to the other flange. This allows the seacock to be unbolted for servicing.
