Framing skinned with polystyrene foam over longitudinal battens. Colin was not able to source PVC foam when needed, which would have allowed him to use the foam as the core for sandwich construction. This polystyrene foam is a part of the female mould over which a solid GRP hull will be laminated.

Here Colin is applying a barrier layer to prevent the polyester resin from attacking the polystyrene foam. An alternative but more costly option would be to use epoxy resin for the hull laminate, without risk of attacking the foam.
