And now for something different. The other designs that we sell are for boats that were designed by Dudley Dix. The Trika 540 was designed by a friend and colleague, our German agent Klaus Metz and the drawings will be shipped to you from his location in Germany. The Trika 540 is a pretty little demountable trimaran for use on protected waters, ideal for lakes, rivers and bays. The slim proportions of the hulls results in very low drag, so it is a speedy little cruiser that is capable of speeds approaching 10 knots in a moderate breeze. Not only is this little boat demountable, it also folds to reduce beam for easy boarding from a dock or to access narrow berths or waterways. When demounted, the amas stow inside the main hull for easy cartop transport. It can be paddled as a large two-person kayak or can be converted in minutes and without tools to be a fast sailing trimaran. Trika is an excellent family fun boat. |
Construction is stitch & glue plywood, well within the ability of most amateur builders. |
